The Hypocrisy Infection – Those Who Can’t Do, Teach!

Have you heard or read this proverb before?

People who are able to do something well can do that thing for a living, while people who are not able to do anything that well make a living by teaching. (Source)

The short and sweet is: Those who can’t do, teach!

Do you know anyone teachers or (for that matter) any managers like that!

I’m going to deviate from the current commentary series to introduce another book that we can reference or do a topical series.

Get ready! This book will mess you up with shocking statistical information.

Ken Ham & Britt Beemer (with Todd Hillard) tackles this issue:  “Why your kids will quit church and what you can do to stop it” in their book – Already Gone.

I just finished Chapter 6 and got one more chapter to go. If you’re like me, you’ve got books that are partially read or it just takes a very long time to finish, right! =)

Chapter 6 really hits the nail on the head on the #1 perception of the Christian church today.

(Drum roll please!)

Hypocrisy! The infection starts at the pulpit and trickles down to the pew. It’s just like the saying that “Those who can’t do, teach!”

Church leaders and believers put on a good Sunday show but really are broken toys. I highly recommend Mark Foreman’s teaching called “Broken Toys Can Change The World” on September 16, 2012.

Here are 6 perceptions that were referenced in Chapter 6:

“Christians say one thing but live something entirely different.” p. 41

“Christians are insincere and concerned only with converting others.” p. 67

“Christians show contempt for gays and lesbians” p. 91

“Christians are boring, unintelligent, old-fashioned, and out of touch with reality.” p. 121

“Christians are primarily motivated by a political agenda and promote right-wing politics” p. 153

“Christians are prideful and quick to find faults in others.” p. 181

If you get a chance, visit your bookstore and check out this chapter or just get it on Amazon.

Well, there you go! Let’s seek God in how we can change these perceptions by “for-real” living out Christ.

Jesus is our greatest teacher this world will ever know and His words have the only power to change the darkest of hearts.

Mr. T follows Jesus and has divine permission to say this:

Quit yo Jibber-jabber! You ain’t hurt, yo pathetic!, Argh! If I ever catch you acting like a crazy fool again, you’re gonna meet my friend pain!
