I remember my mom and grandparents always hung dried their clothes. (Btw if you’re Asian these words may bring some confusion: close, clothes, cloths. I actually had to make several revisions to this post because I was spelling clothes without the “e”.)

Anywho, back then we always had our garage open and my mom used the metal rod on the wooden garage door to hang our freshly washed clothes.

On laundry days, many strangers shopped at our house. Granted, it did look like a legit garage sale.

You know you’re Filipino if you have a dryer machine but would rather hang dry clothes and towels. I’ve seen many creative ways to do this in some very strange places. =)

I dunno about you but I hated the wet-dry smell and the crispy-dry texture especially with towels.

Today we’ll finish the rest of Chapter 2.

Act 2:42 – And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

We see revival breaking out. This is what I call an organic, gluten-free church. Today we have a boat load of synthetically engineered churches that no longer need the Holy Spirit to grow.

We also see a true hungry for the Word. They were teachable and desired sound doctrine. They had sweet fellowship and prayer with each other. They practiced the Lord’s Supper. As part of my children’s discipleship training, we break bread by using grape juice and Chex cereal before starting their curriculum. The Bible lessons are free online at:

Act 2:43 – And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

The fear of God is much needed today. The absence of fear (and the presents of such things like political correctness) in the Church propagates false teaching and un-biblical practices that are cancerous to the Body. We are so divided over doctrine that Church splits will never go out of style, especially in the Bible belt. It’s by God’s grace that He doesn’t fire (with a thunderbolt) every single person that misrepresents Him….but we’ll see later what happens when a husband and wife lies to the Holy Spirit. It’s not a pretty picture!

Act 2:44 – And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

Act 2:45 – And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

Sweet, they had garage sales. Hoarding wasn’t an issue since they shared their things; we call that a hand-me-down. Today there are many non-profit organizations that help those in need. I remember my sister was awarded scholarships to help pay for college; one of them was from the Junior Seau Foundation. And my cousin was able to get the treatment he needed to fight leukemia from Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.

Act 2:46 – And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

Act 2:47 – Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

They ate good, hung out a lot, and were rich in good works. Their witness to the world won favor in the community. If you really want to shine for Jesus learn from these humble beginnings.

You know you’re really Filipino if you send boxes of stuff like shoes, snacks, candies, cloths, and whatever to the Philippines.
